Hardening

The purpose of induction hardening is to improve the hardness and wear resistance of the workpiece, thus prolonging the service life of the workpiece. Induction hardening process is mainly used to harden various automotive parts. For example: gears, bearings, crankshafts, camshafts, drive shafts, spindles, sprockets, output shafts, leaf springs, shifting forks, torsion bars, rocker arms and and ball studs.

What is induction hardening?
Induction hardening is the most energy-saving and efficient way in heat treatment process and is a non-contact heating process adopting electromagnetic induction principle to generate heat in the surface layer of metal workpieces. The generated current mainly flows in the surface layer, and the depth of the layer is determined by the frequency of the alternating field, the surface power density, the permeability of the material, the heating time and the diameter or thickness of the material.
How to select induction hardening system?
Induction hardening types are mainly medium frequency, ultra-audio frequency, high frequency and ultra-high frequency, and the appropriate frequency is selected according to the hardening depth. The greater the depth of the hardened layer, the lower the required frequency, and the smaller the depth of the hardened layer, the higher the required frequency. ROCHO’s induction heating power supply adopts the third generation IGBT core components, which is revolutionary in technical structure, and can realize digital control, transmit and store energy monitoring data, and facilitate standardized management. Benefits of induction hardening system.
Compared with the surface hardening heated by fire, the induction hardening heat is generated in the workpiece itself, so the energy consumption is small and the thermal efficiency is high. The hardened metal undergoes martensite transformation, which increases the hardness and wear resistance of the workpiece. Fast heating and cooling, less workpiece deformation, less oxidation and decarburization, no further mechanical processing after hardening, thus saving processing costs; high production efficiency, convenient to realize mechanized and automatic mass production; no waste gas and less environmental pollution.
